‘Philadelphia Cheesesteak Tour 2020 Spotlight’
In our search for the finest cheesesteak in all of Philadelphia, there was a constant theme that quality products yield quality results. Any Culinarian or foodie has learned that early on when it comes to food in general. One location where that stands out is Cleavers in Rittenhouse Square. When I first discovered that one of their mantras and goals of this brother and sister team was to “prove that there is more to the Philly Cheesesteak then ‘Whiz Wit’!”, I knew I would love Cleavers.
Cleavers was established in March 2016 and is located in the heart of Center City at 108 S 18th right near Rittenhouse Park. They use only 100% Ribeye, fresh baked bread from Carangi Baking Company in South Philly, and fresh artisanal ingredients – all culminating in delicious Philly Cheesesteak creations. When it comes to Ribeye, Cleavers understands it and delivers. The family business for over 35 years has been producing Cheesesteak meat for many of the cities finest. The attention to detail and quality of the products truly stands out in their cheesesteaks and other specialties.
The quality and well seasoned ribeye blended with just the right amount of cheese on a Carangi roll makes a wonderful lunch or dinner. If you are brave, you can try the “The Cleaver” sandwich, which is one pound of Ribeye mixed with American and Whiz. Both are great values and when mixed with any one of their cold beers, “Boozy Milkshakes”, or cocktails, makes for a truly delicious day.
The farm to table comfortable setting, with a good mix of Philly pride, makes eating an escape from the everyday. Cleavers also features outside dining, curbside pick up and delivery through four different services. In addition, their online system makes a meal to go so easy. You can also order cocktails to go or fill a Growler with one of their great selections.
Although I seldom discuss chicken cheesesteaks, or even the more outlandish “Vegan Cheesesteak,” Cleavers delivers on both by utilizing quality and fresh ingredients. (I was only kidding about the outlandish part). In my opinion, if one location stood out for attention to quality ingredients, it was Cleavers.
Cleavers is open seven days a week and all seating is on a first come-first serve basis.
