Cruiser Olympia’s 125th Commissioning Celebration ~ February 5 ~ FREE admission to Olympia as well as Submarine Becuna and the Museum. – 10 am – 3 pm. Held at the Independence Seaport Museum at 211 S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard. This celebration marks the 125th anniversary of the historic Cruiser Olympia’s commissioning. Visitors can go on guided tours of the ship, learn how to tie a knot like a sailor and lie in hammocks like crew members used to. Inside the museum, guests can discover more about the ship’s significance in the exhibit World War I: USS Olympia. This discussion is led by Christ Church historian Neil Ronk.
