It feels like summer weather and the weekend kicks off with First Friday’s, Fine Art & Contemporary Art Show, the 8th Annual Independence Dragon Boat Regatta, Fete Day and Philly Beer Week events. There is also free yoga, free movies, mini Mummers shows, magic shows, the Phila Flea Market, several Farmers’ Markets and much more. And the weekend ends with the Philly Beer Week, Pride Day and the Philly Burger Brawl.

Your kids can join the Continental Army for marching drills and musket etiquette. How about raise the flag with Betsy Ross. Or listen to historians as they tell the story of every day Philadelphians during this moving version of the Declaration of Independence.

• Join the Continental Army! ~ June 6 until September 1 ~  The Continental Army is recruiting a few good kids for drills in the art of marching and musket etiquette. Taking place at Independence Hall at Signers’ Garden, 5th & Chestnut Streets. Musters will occur at 2 pm & 3 pm. From May 30 to June 7, the musters will occur on Fridays and Saturdays at 2 & 3 pm. August 22 through August 30, the musters will occur twice daily, Tuesday through Saturday at 2 pm. and 3 pm.  August 31 – September 1: Labor Day Weekend, 2 & 3 pm (Labor Day). ~ Join the Continental Army ~
• End of Day Declaration Readings ~ June 6 until September 1 ~ Starting around 3:45 pm, behind Independence Hall, listen to History Makers as they tell the story of every day Philadelphians during this moving version of the Declaration of Independence. From June 18 through August 10, history makers operate Tuesday through Saturday. From August 16 through August 31 and will operate for Labor Day Weekend, September 1 and September 2. ~ End of Day Declaration Readings ~
• Independence After Hours ~ June 6 & 7 ~ Check out the Independence After Hours tours for the 2014 season that start at 5:30 pm. Travel back to 1776 with your tour guide and fill up on a three-course meal from City Tavern. After dinner, visit Independence Hall for an after-hours tour of the national landmark. Tickets are available online.

• String Band Music Under the Stars ~ June 19 ~ FREE concert starts at 8 pm. – Every Thursday through September, join the Mummers for an outdoor string band performance at the Mummers Museum!
