Join the U.S. Army Field Band for a musical celebration of American independence in the city where it all began. Chinese Lantern Festival ~ July 1 – 14 ~ Has been extended! Every night of the week from 6 pm to 11 pm at Franklin Square. Take pleasure in the Chinese Lantern Festival at Franklin Square! The square will come alive and glow with 30 larger-than-life illuminated displays such as a huge 200-foot long phoenix, pandas, sea creatures, mythological creatures and more. Independence Day Parade ~ July 4 ~ From 11:00 am – 12:30 pm starting at Independence Hall and traveling throughout Historic Philadelphia in Olde City! You won’t want to miss the largest Independence Day Parade in decades as it comes to life in Philadelphia’s Historic District. Over 6,000 participants will march through the nation’s most historic square mile. Special guests include Miss America and more! The parade begins at 5th and Chestnut Streets, then travels West on Chestnut Street to 9th Street. It then turns right onto 9th Street, before heading down Market Street toward Front Street. The parade finishes by marching down Front Street to Chestnut Street. Total route is 1.2 miles long. ~ More Info ~

Party on the Parkway ~ July 4 ~ From Noon – 7:00 pm on Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 20th Street to Eakins Oval. The highly anticipated, day-long Party on the Parkway features 5 blocks of exciting activities, games, entertainment (free), and food for the whole family. Families can enjoy an interactive kid’s area featuring Zipline, an acro dunker show, arts and crafts with the Clay Mobile and much more . Philly 4th of July Concert & Fireworks ~ July 4 ~ From 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm on Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Eakins Oval. Join everyone for a star-studded evening on the Independence Blue Cross Stage featuring performances by two-time Grammy Award-winning artist and Academy Award-winning actress, Jennifer Hudson, alongside the Philly POPS BIG Band, and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Meghan Trainor. The Independence Day celebrations continue with a dazzling fireworks display choreographed to a custom patriotic soundtrack created and performed by the United States Army Field Band. This is the first time in Welcome America history that the United States Army Field Band will perform live on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art as the fireworks light up the sky above red, white and blue.

The Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert & Fireworks is FREE and open to the public. Guests are invited to join the Party on the Parkway beginning at Eakin’s Oval and continuing along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway up to 20th Street. Tickets are NOT nee ded to watch from the Parkway. Chinese Lantern Festival ~ July 5 – 14 ~ Has been extended! Every night of the week from 6 pm to 11 pm at Franklin Square. Take pleasure in the Chinese Lantern Festival at Franklin Square! The square will come alive and glow with 30 larger-than-life illuminated displays such as a huge 200-foot long phoenix, pandas, sea creatures, mythological creatures and more. The Musical: Legally Blonde at Walnut Street Theatre ~ July 5 – 14 ~ Held at the Walnut Street Theatre at 825 Walnut Street. This comedy is about a California sorority sister who heads to Harvard Law School in the Broadway adaptation of the hit movie. ~ Legally Blonde at Walnut Street Theatre ~

Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes Exhibit at The Franklin Institute ~ July 5 – September 2 ~ Held at the Franklin Institute at 222 N. 20th Street. Fans of the superhero comics and movies get a look at Marvel iconic memorabilia, to include original Spider-Man art, T’Challa’s Black Panther costume, movie props and concept sketches. Creatures of Habitatte at the Philadelphia Zoo ~ July 5 – September 30 ~ Held at the Philadelphia Zoo at 3400 W. Girard Avenue. Visitors will get to explore 12 amazing life-size LEGO® brick vignettes situated throughout the Zoo. This gazillion piece journey shares the issues animals are facing around the world and spotlights the heroes working to save them. Each life-sized LEGO® brick scene is intricately fashioned from thousands of LEGO® bricks and is on exhibit only at Philadelphia Zoo.
