Why not go to some place in the city that you haven’t been to before. Try something new. Make a new family experience or tradition. Try some of the new restaurants, bars, and museums that have opened lately in the city. Experience the history of Philadelphia, allowing the kids to take part in certain activities around the Independence Hall.

Your kids can join the Continental Army for marching drills and musket etiquette. How about raise the flag with Betsy Ross. Or listen to historians as they tell the story of every day Philadelphians during this moving version of the Declaration of Independence.

Many Philadelphia’s museums and attractions will honor the men and women of military, both past and present, will host Memorial Day events throughout the weekend and on Memorial Day itself. Let’s not forget those men and women who have fought for our Freedom!

  • Independence National Historical Park ~ May 24 & 25 ~ FREE – Learn about the heroes of the Revolutionary War as a park ranger takes guests on a 30-minute tour of the portrait gallery inside the second bank of the United States. Tours are from 3 to 3:30 pm on both days and are completely free.

  • Join the Continental Army! ~ May 24 – 26 & May 30 until September 1 ~  The Continental Army is recruiting a few good kids for drills in the art of marching and musket etiquette. From June 18 through August 10, history makers operate Tuesday through Saturday.
